FishEthoBase is a project launched by the fair-fish international association in 2013. It is advanced by a team of researchers presented here and supported by various institutions and foundations presented on the support site
The core aim of our efforts is to ethologically describe as many farmed species as possible, in order to have a scientific basis for recommendations how to improve fish welfare in aquaculture.
In addition, the FishEthoBase team presents its work in conferences and with publications. We regularly subject our work to stakeholder rounds and invite academia and field to our yearly Summer Shoal.
Last not least, since January 2018 we visit and advise Friend of the Sea (FOS) certified fish farms with the goal of developing fish welfare criteria for the FOS certification scheme.
